Christmas Celebration 2005:
Vidyapith celebrated Christmas on Saturday, December 17,
2005 with Saturday students and Sunday, December 18,
2005 with Sunday students. This time there were three
celebrations that came together on December 17:
Christmas, Youth Day Part I, and Holy Mother’s Birthday
Celebration (in the evening). On both the days, after
prayer and assembly, students took part in the Essay
Writing Competitions. After their mid-morning snack,
students gathered in the Prayer Hall for Christmas
Celebration. As Christmas Carols were sung one by one,
students got into the festive Christmas mood. Just as
they started singing, “Must be Santa…,” they heard a
jingling sound of bells outside the Prayer Hall. As the
song ended, the children looked eagerly to the main door
in anticipation of Santa Claus who walked in with
jingling bells and a sack full of gifts. The children
watched in delight, some scrutinizing Santa to figure
out which teacher or parent was playing the role of
Santa this year.
On
Saturday, Santa told, “It’s been a long ride from the
Arctic Pole on my sleigh. I had a difficult time getting
all my reindeers together, but we finally made it. I
have got wonderful gifts for all of you, and I am sure
you will love it!
Today,
we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, one of the
incarnations of God, who came to earth for the salvation
of mankind. Before leaving for my world tour, when I
met the Lord, he provided me with X-Ray Vision, so I
could see for myself His Divine Birth in the manger. I
also saw the three wise men from the East, who came to
pay their homage to the Lord. He said they were from
India, which is the land of spirituality. He also told
me there were a lot of similarities in His life and the
life of the Hindu Avataar, Lord Krishna. I love all
children, but the children of Vidyapith have a special
place in my heart. Merry Christmas to all of you! Ho!
Ho! Ho!”
On
Sunday, Santa discussed the Sermon on the Mount
and spoke of the importance of Christmas. Then Vandana
Aunty told a story related to prayer. The important
question in the story was, “Does God listen to our
prayers?” She emphasized three points regarding prayer:
we must want to do prayer, must ask for things which we
cannot get by our own efforts, and must pay attention to
our prayers and not recite them mechanically. On both
days, after the stories and caroling, KG through 6th
graders received Christmas presents from Santa.
Christmas was a lot of fun! |
